Last week I had the pleasure of participating in the CIO.IT | Competition 2011 at The Cable Show, in Chicago. The session was titled, "Innovate IT Session 2: Best Ideas in Cable IT Service Assurance.”

This session was different than others I participated in before. It consisted of a panel of cable industry IT leaders evaluating presentations that highlight innovative new approaches to designing, provisioning, and managing advanced services over cable networks. At the same time paying special attention to wireless and IP video networks, and new geo-spatial information analysis tools.

Telonic GmBH is a leading systems integrator in Germany operating and providing innovative network infrastructures and performance monitoring solutions. We service brands across the whole of Germany and needed to offer our customers a simple solution capable of reporting on network statistics and NetFlow simultaneously.

Last week, SevOne hit Moscow for our first full Russian roadshow. It was my first visit to Russia and I was blown away by such an enormous, vibrant, energetic capital city. The extremely long days allowed a small amount of sightseeing after our days of business meetings - I had the obligatory photo taken in Red Square and marvelled at the stunning late-19th century GUM department store opposite the Kremlin.

Financial Services companies have to obey a large range of regulatory requirements relating to capturing, securing and retaining key data. I love the day before a tradeshow starts. There is excitement and plenty of construction noise in the air as the vendors work to assemble their booths. This year at The Cable Show, all of the big name cable providers, content providers, and smaller strategic partners will all be displaying their unique technologies. Being this is the first time we have had the honor of presenting SevOne to The Cable Show crowd, this is a particularly exciting opportunity for our team. 

Bandwidth demands for MSOs and wireless carriers continue to increase at phenomenal rates and monitoring the performance of the IP/Ethernet based backhaul infrastructure is vital for delivering the levels of service your customers demand, and even more important if you are expanding your service offering or outsourcing to an Ethernet backhaul service provider.
